Tips: Growing and Caring for your Helleborus "Gold Collection"
Indoor
Location: Place your Helleborus "Gold Collection" in a cool as possible location and out of direct sunlight. The cooler the location the more colour variations you will see. If your Helleborus is in a warmer location the flowers will turn lime green.
Watering: Careful watering of your Helleborus "Gold Collection" will reward you with long-lasting healthy blooms. When watering, make sure the soil is moist but not wet. Do not let your plant stand in water for longer than 20 to 30 minutes as they do not like to stand in water. DO NOT LET DRY OUT.
Nutrition: While your Helleborus "Gold Collection" is indoors, it does not require any fertilizer.
Outdoor
Location: Your Helleborus "Gold Collection" is hardy between USDA zones 6-9. Acclimate the plant to outside conditions before planting in the ground. If left in the grower pot do not allow the root ball to freeze completely, as the roots will die off. Plant outside when there is no longer a danger of freezing. Plant it in partial shade, ensuring the plant is planted the same depth as it was grown in the pot. This will increase branching and more flower stems. Place mulch around the plant to ensure it remains moist during dryer and hotter conditions. Remove any damaged and spent flower stalks in the Spring. The white flowers will appear as early as March depending on location and later change to a bronzy and or green colour depending on temperature and will last well into the summer.
Watering: Water your Helleborus "Gold Collection" well after planting, then water regularly until your plant is well established. Do not let your plant stand in water as they do not like wet feet. Helleborus tolerates dryness and warmer conditions once established.
Nutrition: A light, well-balanced fertilizer in the spring and fall is optional for your Helleborus "Gold collection". Do not feed in the heat of summer or while the plant is flowering.
